INSPIRATION FOR ART FROM THE WEATHER

INSPIRATION FOR ART FROM THE WEATHER

I move back and forth between executing my art in the abstract and giving a fairly accurate realistic look to the work. At one point, I became aware of how the weather affects our mood. I did a series of paintings in watermedia batik based on rainy days.

I love the sound of rain on the roof of my house or car, the smell of freshly falling rain in the air, and the feel of the raindrops in my hair and on my skin. Rain is the subject of these paintings.

The one at the top of the page is “Streetlights in the Rain”. The couple portrayed snuggle cosily under an umbrella while rain is lit in the streetlights around them.

This one “French Street” is a view of Paris on a rainy day. You can smell the bread baking mixed with the rain as the young girl hurries to find shelter.

We are back in the US for “Rainy Day in New York”. The bustling street is filled with taxies vying for passengers among the crowds.

I will bring you more of my rainy day scenes next week.

All of these paintings have sold, but 13 x 19 inch prints are available for a nominal price.
