Mindfulness and Meditation
Practices like mindfulness and meditation can help calm your mind and open it up to new ideas and perspectives.
I start each day with a meditation on the sunrise. Each day is different. I notice the colors, the cloud formations, the time of day it rises and I give thanks for this beautiful way God gives us to start each day.
Meditation does not need to take a lot of time. You just need to focus your mind on something other than your to-do list or what is facing you for the rest of the day and think about the present lovely moment. It is a way of being mindful and appreciative of the time we are given on this earth to enjoy it.
Another meditation at night is an added benefit. Thankfulness for this day we have spent and thinking of what was the best of the day for you is a good way to fall into a peaceful sleep.
The other meditation I indulge in is petting my dog. He brings the peace of the moment to me. A dog knows how to live in the moment…not worrying about the past or planning for the future. They are good role models for us humans!
