Sierra Mountains

This was the start of my 2019 series of abstracts to prepare for my Sierra Watercolor Society demo in January 2020. My goal is to do one abstract a week using the steps of John Salminen. I took his abstract workshop a few years ago and have used his steps in many of my subsequent abstracts. Each time I do a new piece, it comes out different from the ones before. The steps give a method to follow but leave the piece open to the creativity that comes with the execution. Sierra Mountains is one result. This piece is 22x30 on Arches 140 lb watercolor paper and sells for $800.
